Bachelor's Party

Postby AexCN625 » Sat Dec 27, 2008 6:05 pm

Hi peeps

I'm new to the wedding thing (in terms of being actually a participant in the bridal party) and all the traditions that go w/ it. APPARENTLY, me being the best man, I am responsible for organising the partay!

SO! Me being new, what suggestions do people have on this type of event?

Keen to hear/read/you know what I mean :D

My only advice for hen's or buck's nights is to not overdo it! Some people have five or six different events or locations that they try to pack into one day. That means you spend most of your day/budget travelling and don't get to stay at one place long enough to relax and settle in. Only an hour left at work and them I'm off to Queenstown for New Years! Yehaaa!

To all grooms.....(sorry this isn't for bestmen, but I thought that it would be a great thing to tell you best mate to use) My friends partner used the following and I thought it was so funny that I would share it.....

To start the grooms speech, he did the usual thank you's... ie thanks to the inlaws, his parents, guests etc etc.... then he looked at his bride, and said....
" Bec's, my darling wife, can you please stand up?".....(with that, Becks stood up)
"Thanks Bec's.... can you please sit down" (with that, of course Bec's a bit confused sat down again)
"Excellent" he said. " I was just checking to make sure that I was still incharge"

The guests cracked up, and didn't stop for ages!! It was sooo funny.... the funniest thing I have seen in a while!!
People where still talking about it at the BBQ the next day!

Feel free to use it...

does anyone else know of any funny things to use at a wedding??

Sorry Littles1, I totally missed your message. We ended up not having a bachelor's party because the groom was well aware of the religious stance the in-laws have about this sort of event; so instead we had quiet drinks at the pub. Not as entertaining, but seeing people under the influence can be entertaining to some degree.

I didn't end up using this in my best man's speech, but I was given the following idea:

"Good afternoon/evening ladies and gentlemen my name is [PEATO]. When searching for inspiration on what to say, I was given this advice: the best man's speech should last as long as the groom makes love. So it's great to see you all here today, I hope you enjoy your time here. Thanks" - and then sit. I was restricted by religious boundaries from just observing the people so I had to keep my speech PG-rated....or even G-rated.
