Postby niceguy on Wed Jan 28, 2009 2:52 pm

hey guys

my wife and i have been together for 9 years, married couple months ago,and are in our mid 20's. one thing i am keen to know is my wife has always had a low sex drive and what i mean by that is no real desire, when we actually get round to doing it shes fine and will orgasm etc,any ideas why? shes not the most adventures person, although she has gotten better over time,i love her to pieces but dont like bringin it up to often with her. she has been on the pill and ive heard that can effect drive?

cheers :)

Hi there, thanks for the question! And welcome to the forum. Low sex drive is a complex issue and not one that I can give you a definitive answer for. Contributing factors can be emotional (poor body image, intimacy issues), physical (fatigue, discomfort during sex), chemical (hormone imbalances, libido-reducing medicines) - really quite endless! My best suggestion is for you to talk to your wife about it. If you reassure her that it is no big deal, and you're inquiring simply out of concern, then she might feel okay opening up about it and you can help each other to work through it!

Hey, 9 years is a long time so big ups on that achievement. I am interested in knowing when you two became sexually active - whether you both started in your teens or waited for marriage. I'm just curious when you say that she's "always had a low sex drive"

Cheers

i would be the same as your wife. ceratonine could definitely be it, that hormone would effect a lot including emotionally how she feels, i know my issues are poor body image. my partner always comments on how he loves my bum so when i wear things that show of the shape i feel hot. have a gentle talk out of concern, i do worry something is wrong with me, being 19 i feel like i should be jumping my boyfriend all the time, but it also annoys me that i have a low libido so if she gets upset just hug her briefly and say you'l always love her. if shes open to conversation, maybe trying a pole fitness class? gave me a huge boost, its learning how to pole dance. there are pills out there but try natural remedies first. big ups for 9 years though!
