Silence is golden

If you live in a house in NZ, chances are your walls are pretty thin. And if your flatmate is a light sleeper then you could encounter some embarassing meetings at breakfast time. So if you want your vibrator to be super quiet, I wrap a towel around mine to muffle the sound. There is a second benefit to this. The barrier between yourself and the toy means the vibration isn't as intense and it'll take longer to (ahem) get (ahem) there - which can be quite nice! And then when your flattie goes away for the weekend you can remove the towel and the sudden intensity is amazing!

yep, silence is definitely important, and the one toy the I have at the moment, is getting louder by the use!! I think it might be time that I invest in a new one. Can anyone suggest a vibrating toy that is real quiet?

Hey littles1, sad but true as toys wear out they do get louder! I cannot stop raving about LELO love toys for their quietness. Check them out here http://sexgear.co.nz/shop-by-brand/lelo/1/ Yes they are an investment but they are truly worth it. And the only thing that won't be quiet in the bedroom when using these toys - is you! ;)

re. wearing out... the last vibe I had (mid-priced) had a cheap potentiometer which I've seen on a lot of vibrators. It started heating up & bleeding the batteries dry while off, and I eventually had to turn it up & up until it wouldn't vibrate at all. After some mood-killing bedside frustration I grudgingly accepted that it was a Non-Repairable Item (and anyway, I'm SO not going to the wholesaler with that one! )

Thinking of getting a rabbit but I'm wary of spending a couple of hundy only to find it doesn't 'go the distance'. I brought this up in a store in town & they pointed out the warranty.. yeah, right! I worked in a lingerie department and I know that people don't even bring back defective underwear ;)

So what is the lifespan of the average vibe, especially the rabbit? I'm not a toy nympho, in fact they only ever get used when I'm desperate as I much prefer the real deal.

Hi achelois! And welcome to the SG Forum! Firstly, I can say that the Rabbit Vibrator is by far SG's most popular seller - so we've got lots of satisfied customers who, I am sure, can share their bunny bliss stories here. A rabbit vibe is like any other consumer good, the more you pay, most often, the better the item. You can, however, get a really great rabbit vibe for around $100, The Perfect Rabbit Vibe http://sexgear.co.nz/vibrators/rabbit/perfect-rabbit-vibrator/ and the Twin Turbo Rabbit http://sexgear.co.nz/vibrators/rabbit/twin-turbo-butterfly-rabbit-vibe/ are both top sellers and we have not had a fault issue with either to date. How long a toy lasts really depends on use. If you are careful with the item, look after it well, use a cleaner on the material and keep the battery case dry you should expect to get a full years use out of a decent Rabbit Vibe.

Just to back up the Lelo - it's quiet as! it's great... never had an embarrassing breakfast moment after a wicked nite with it yet - an investment yes - but it really is quality!

Okay, so me being new, and curious, what is a rabbit vibe?

I read on Wikipedia bout it. A "rabbit" vibe is a device that stimulates vaginal and clitoral responses? Is that it?

A rabbit vibe is a term that describes any toy that has a shaft and clit tickler attached in the one unit. They are called rabbits because the clit stimulator is often shaped like a rabbit with vibrating bunny ears! Typically, rabbit vibrators will also have pearls or steel ball bearings in the shaft that rotate to provide internal massage. They are usually the most effective sex toy for women because they provide internal (g-spot) orgasm and external (clitoral) stimulation simultaneously.
