Understanding The Bride & Groom

A woman and her daughter attend a wedding and during the ceremony, the girl asks her mother,
"Mum, why is the bride wearing white?"
The mother smiles to the girl and says,
"Well dear, white is a good colour to show happiness, and the bride is happy that she is getting married today."
So the girl sits and thinks about this for a few minutes, then asks her mother,
"So....why is the groom wearing black?"
